Photobeam Activity System - Open Field

SDI’s Photobeam Activity System – Open Field accurately records the complete coordinates of an animal’s path within a special acrylic enclosure and calculates the time and number of entries into each zone on the zone map. This powerful and flexible system gives you the ability to design the number and proportions of the zones to be measured in both the X and Y dimensions using a simple software application. Or, you can choose to use a coordinate file directly. Any number of zone maps can be designed and stored for later usage. Coordinate files can be reanalyzed using any of the zone maps. The height of the photobeams can be adjusted to accommodate animals of different sizes.

The PAS-Open Field System can be reconfigured for a variety of basic test paradigms including central vs. peripheral counts, fine movements vs. ambulation, habituation of activity, novel objects, rearing measurements, “zone activity” analyses, exploratory vs. baseline activity and more. Custom queries can be created to extract data in the format you require.

System size is adaptable from 1 test station to a maximum of 24 test stations. When the rearing frame option is implemented, the maximum number of stations is reduced to 12. Note: It is possible to add one more PAS Distribution Box to double the number of configurable systems.
