Y-Maze
Y-Maze
The Y-Maze is a quick way to evaluate spatial working memory. It allows animals to select between two arms based on memory or reward. Because the Y-Maze’s arms have a gradual turn, animals understand the layout more quickly than a T-Maze, decreasing learning time. San Diego Instruments (SDI) also provides a MOUSE water tight Y Maze. Including removable doors, and a variety of additional color options, SDI’s Y-Maze adjusts to fit a wide range of experiments. San Diego Instrument’s (SDI) Y-Maze is uniquely designed to be easy to use and clean as well as highly versatile.
T-Maze
T-Maze
Ideal for spatial learning or preference tasks, the T-maze structure allows animals to select between two arms based on memory or reward. San Diego Instruments (SDI) also offers a water tight MOUSE T-maze. Including removable doors, and a variety of additional color options, SDI’s T-maze adjusts to fit a wide range of experiments. SDI’s T-maze is uniquely designed to be easy to use, clean and transport, as well as highly versatile.
Sociability Apparatus
Sociability Apparatus
The Sociability Apparatus is specifically designed for the Sociability Interaction Test, one of the most widely used behavioral assays for evaluating social preference and social novelty in mice. This three chamber enclosure provides a controlled environment for assessing social behavior, making it an ideal solution for neuroscience, behavioral, and autism-related research. The removable walls provide flexible chamber configurations, allowing researchers to temporarily isolate one side for habituation or free exploration from the wire containment cage, or to open all three chambers to facilitate unrestricted exploration during sociability testing. Made of acrylic and used often along with a video tracking system such as SDI’s ANY-maze video tracking system.
Open Field Test Apparatus
Open Field Apparatus
The Open Field Test Apparatus is designed for assessing emotionality, basal activity, locomotor behavior, anxiety-related responses, and exploratory activity in rodents. Suitable for both mice and rats in a single standardized chamber, it supports a wide range of behavioral neuroscience applications.
Available in multiple color configurations, SDI’s Open Field system can be adapted to meet diverse experimental requirements. The modular design prioritizes ease of use, efficient cleaning, and convenient transport. The removable walls separate from the base, allowing full access to the floor surface for thorough cleaning and maintenance between studies.
Engineered for flexibility and reliability, the Open Field enclosure is built to support consistent, reproducible behavioral data across experiments.
Radial Arm Maze
Radial Arm Maze
Ideal for spatial learning or memory tasks, the Radial Arm Maze’s structure allows animals to select among eight arms. After selecting one arm, animals must return to the center before choosing another. SDI’s Radial Arm Maze also comes in a variety of additional colors, and includes manual entry doors to close off selected arms. SDI’s Radial Arm Maze is uniquely designed to be easy to use, clean and transport, as well as highly versatile.
San Diego Instruments (SDI) also offers a watertight radial arm maze. Contact us for information on the Water Tight Radial Arm Maze
Multi Unit Open Field Apparatus
Multi Unit Open Field Apparatus
The Multi Unit Open Field is ideal for testing emotionality and the evolution of basal activity. The Enclosure tracks the animal’s response to environmental modifications. SDI offers a variety of color options and surface textures to work with your subjects. The Open Field Convertible Enclosure has been deisgned so it can quickly be changed from four arenas to a single large arena, fitting a wide range of experiments. The enclosure is uniquely designed and made out of ABS plastic allowing it to be easy to use, clean and transport, as well as highly versatile. The enclsoure can be paired with ANY-maze video tracking software to help automate your behavioral testing.
Elevated Plus Maze
Elevated Plus Maze
The Elevated Plus Maze is a widely recognized behavioral assay used to evaluate anxiety-related behavior in rodents. Designed for the Elevated Plus Maze Test, this apparatus leverages rodents’ natural aversion to open, elevated spaces while measuring their exploratory behavior between protected and exposed environments. Built with two open arms, two enclosed arms, and a central platform.
Barnes Maze
Barnes Maze
Ideal for testing spatial learning and memory, the Barnes Maze motivates animals to hide from the bright, open platform by finding the small, dark “escape box.” Animals learn the escape box’s location without the stress of swimming or food deprivation and false escape boxes remove the possibility of inadvertent cues. San Diego Instruments (SDI) designed its maze to be easy to use, clean and transport. With a variety of color options, the maze adjusts to fit a wide range of experiments and is compatiable with ANY-Maze Video Tracking. The maze comes in both rat and mouse models and includes 20 explorations holes, 20 false escape boxes and one escape box.
